A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION TO COORDINATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF FOREST HEALTH RESTORATION AND FOREST FUEL REDUCTION PROJECTS WITH STATE AGENCIES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
NEW SECTION. Section 1. Forest health and fuel reduction. The department of natural resources and conservation may develop forest health restoration and forest fuel reduction projects that may be implemented by state agencies. Projects may include procedures for:
(1) identifying forests that are at high risk of loss because of fuel accumulation, disease, or insect infestation; and
(2) cooperating with local governments to identify locations where the urban-forest interface poses the greatest risk of contributing to damage or loss during a fire.
NEW SECTION. Section 2. Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 76, chapter 13, and the provisions of Title 76, chapter 13, apply to [section 1].
