A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MONTANA URGING THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION NOT ADOPT THE CLARK FORK RIVER BASIN WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN AS A NEW SECTION OF THE STATE WATER PLAN.
WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation has developed a State Water Plan; and
WHEREAS, amendments, additions, and deletions are made to the State Water Plan without legislative oversight; and
WHEREAS, the Department has decided to add a new section to the State Water Plan addressing management of the Clark Fork River Basin; and
WHEREAS, the recommendations that are adopted in the plan are policy recommendations that should be left to the Legislature to determine; and
WHEREAS, section 85-1-203, MCA, provides that the Legislature, by joint resolution, may revise the State Water Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
That the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation be urged to not adopt the Clark Fork River Basin Watershed Management Plan as a new section of the State Water Plan.
